You’ll see more reasons in this piece to seriously question Dr. John Piper’s decision to open his forum to pretending to be Protestant SBC minister Rick Warren given Warren’s ever increasing elastic orthodoxy.

A recent Crosstalk program discussed the “mainstreaming of mysticism” in today’s church, and how many of today’s pastors and authors are “speaking” the language of mysticism (Spiritual Formation, Spiritual Disciplines, Solitude and Silence, etc.), as well as selling books leading unwitting readers into occultic mystical practices- chiefly, mantra meditation.  The book Celebration of Discipline, by [...]

As you’ll see here in this article, it’s little wonder the Southern Baptist Convention is Slowing Becoming Catholic; arguably its most influential pastor and his megachurch are steeped in this refried Roman Catholic mysticism.

Oh the irony.  The rich, rich irony.  Frank Turk, best known for his blogging at Pyromaniacs, which could most certainly be characterized as being a discernment blog, has taken issue with……discernment bloggers. Read rest of article here.

Built around a tweet by Steve Camp praising Rick Warren as “monergistic in his soterology; in community missional with the gospel” in this post you’ll see again that Warren is involved in sinful, and double-minded, ecumenicism with apostates.

VinnieActs2030 has posted a video on his You Tube channel that is worth watching.  If you have a YouTube account, I highly recommend suscribing to his channel.  His videos are informative and wonderful at exposing the false teachers who pollute the air waves. Continue reading…

In this post, built around a piece by Aaron Gardner concerning Warren’s approach to the Gospel, I provide some additional commentary and the link to Gardner’s insightful post.

If You’ve Been Hurt By Rick Warren

An excellent commentary concerning Warrengate from Todd Friel; you’ll find the link here.

Seeker Driven Perry Noble retweets an important error by his mentor Purpose Driven Rick Warren: Solving our global problems will take more critical thinking & less criticizing without thinking from the Church. Unfortunately such as these, without thinking, are too proud to listen to criticism from the Church; rather, in their eyes there’s no such thing as [...]

Rick Warren, in his talk at TED2006, stated (at approx. 21:00 in the video) that “God Smiles when You Be You”. He states a few seconds later that God gets pleasure out of “you being you.” Friends, there’s a big problem with this message. Rick was speaking to an audience that was primarily non-Christians. Jesus [...]

First, let me start this post by saying this: I DO believe that Christians should be leading the world when it comes to helping the poor, helping orphans, and other ways that we help socially. (After all, I work full-time as a chaplain at a Christ-centered drug rehab center and homeless shelter. So I regularly [...]

Nauseating video evidence in this post of what Rick Warren teaches in his interfaith powwows; but better hurry, videos of Rick Warren and his Purpose Driven deception have a nasty habit of very suddenly disappearing into the ether.

Over at the Christianity Today (CT) Liveblog, editor Colin Hansen, author of the book Young, Restless, Reformed has written a post on the Warrengate fiasco. Consistent with CT’s founding philosophy, Hansen has taken the New Evangelical stand on this topic, which we shall see and examine later. [more]

Rick Warren attended an ecumenical inter-faith meeting at Sinai Temple today according to JewishJournal.com: As extensive security and police cruisers guarded the entrance, Rabbi David Wolpe, Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church, Najeeba Syeed-Miller, CEO of the Center for Civic Engagement and Dialogue, and Reverend Cecil “Chip” Murray, retired pastor of First AME Church came [...]

I receive many emails, most of them are cordial and constructive. I also receive a lot of email from people who accuse me of picking on Rick Warren, like its a matter of two kids on a playground fighting over a football. The strange and sad turn of most of the email conversations comes when [...]

Okay, here’s the synopsis:

John Piper believes Rick Warren is really theologically reformed.
Rick Warren embraces Roman Catholicism as equivalent to reformed Christianity.
Reformed Christianity can be summed in this truth: justification by grace through faith.
Roman Catholic theology and tradition denies justification by grace through faith.
Therefore, Rick Warren is not theologically reformed.
John Piper has been duped.

Here in this article you’ll see the evidence that Rick Warren, who claims he believes the 5 Solas of the Reformation, actually had a section on the PDC website for the Purpose Driven Church ”denomination” Catholics.

Here in this post you’ll get the link to what Adrian Warnock has said on Piper Warrengate and you’ll learn about the Roman Catholic church that received a “Healthy Church Award” at a Purpose Driven Church conference.

Johnson was appearing on the Iron Sharpens Iron radio program of m y friend Chris Arnzen. More detail and the link to the program here.

I actually didn’t really think that I’d have that much to say over the invitation of Rick Warren to the 2010 Desiring God National Conference. All four parts of those articles are available my Justification by Grace web log.

Jon Cardwell has already posted Part Two of his thoughts on John Piper and Rick Warren on his Justification by Grace blog, “Four Cents Now Concerning the Piper/Washer Kerfuffle – Part Two.

Will I lose friends and loved ones over this article? Those three faithful readers of the Justification by Grace blog may just drop down to two because I’ve overstepped my bounds (I’m just kidding y’all, as they’d say in Alabama). Very recently I was asked my thoughts on this situation: “I want to know what you think about this? [not what you've read or heard]”

In the recent controversy involving John Piper inviting heretic Rick Warren for the DG2010 conference, Piper has posted a video whereby he posed doctrinal questions to Rick Warren to answer. Not surprisingly, Warren gave solid and reasonably orthodox answers to the questions posed to him. On the basis of such answers, Piper pronounced Warren as [...]

Drawing your attention in this piece to some important work by pastor Rob Willmann of Vibist.com, Daniel Chew–author of Driven Away By Purpose–and Cecil Andrews of Take Heed Ministries, concerning Dr. Piper’s unfortunate lack of judgment in inviting Rick Warren to share his pulpit.
