Who is the Pope?

Who is Joseph Ratzinger, and what has qualified him to become the Pope? Read this biography, and what you won’t find are his favorite Bible verses mentioned. Interviews with former priest, Richard Bennett, reveal that much philosophy is studied by priests in the Catholic Church, but Richard Bennett confesses that he only learned the Bible [...]

The Heart of the Matter

At Our Sovereign Joy Rev. J. Theodore Helms writes, “We are engaged daily in spiritual warfare but with the weapons that God has provided. The only way the Christian can have spiritual victory is through spiritual weaponry (2Cor.10:1-6; Eph.6:10-20). And the victory over the present darkness must be kept in proper perspective; we are not [...]

Where Are the Elders Who Guard the Flock?

Here is the latest article on Christian Worldview Network from Pastor Bob DeWaay. In this important look at elders Pastor DeWaay brings out a very serious issue:
Most evangelical churches have elders; these elders are responsible for the Lord’s flock. My interviews with people who have witnessed their churches being infiltrated by unbiblical teachings and practices [...]

Not only do the evangelical feminists pray to another god(dess), the “mother-god”, now we are learning about their “Jesus”. Read about the “Jesus” of Christians for Biblical Equality teacher, Jann Aldredge-Clanton in this article.
Christians for Biblical Equality is an evangelical feminist group, speaking in churches, “Jesus People” gatherings, seminaries, and Bible conferences throughout America and [...]

Tony Campolo, Is Jesus The Only Way?

Pastor Greg Linscott of Current Christian.com reports today that Tony Campolo, who denies the inerrancy of the Bible, is now hedging on and denying the exclusivity the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

According to this report in the Christian Post, “The U.S. church phenomenon ‘U2-charist’ is now hitting the Church of England for the country’s first Holy Communion service using U2’s best-selling songs.”

Love That Can Hate

Alexander Maclaren (1826-1910) was a Scottish preacher who is considered by many “the supreme example of  the Protestant expository preacher.” In fact Maclaren was so dedicated to preaching God’s Word that would refuse speaking engagements when they interfered with his study of the Bible at the time. Quite a difference from many of the hirelings [...]

In this article Erwin McManus praises his brother Alex McManus for being among today’s so-called “men of dreams” and “men of passion.” However, with all this talk about cultural architects and futurists in the Emergent Church it’s far past time that someone begins to ask these alleged architects and futurists who are emerging: What exactly [...]

Drilled and Trained for War

We ought to regard the Christian Church, not as a luxurious hostelry where Christian gentlemen may each dwell at his ease in his own inn but as a barracks in which soldiers are gathered together to be drilled and trained for war. We should regard the Christian Church, not as an association of for mutual [...]

He Calls Himself God

And [Jesus] said, “See to it that you are not misled; for many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time is near ’ Do not go after them.” (Luke 21:8)
Signs of our twisted times as Newsweek Beliefs on MSNBC.com reports, “At first glance, the congregation gathered in a warehouse in Doral, [...]

The fact is that today there are many walking along the broad road of the tranformational the seeker sensitive movement and the in the Emergent Church who often accuse those of us Christians who insist we must only do what the Bible teaches us as being guilty of “Bibliolatry.” And by this slur they mean that we supposedly [...]

Accountability to God

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. (Hebrews 9:27)
It was the belief in the accountability of man to his maker that made America a great nation. Among those earlier leaders was Daniel Webster whose blazing eyes and fiery oratory often held the Senate spellbound. In those [...]

Taking Evolution To School

If we listen to people today concerning what they call the “fact” of evolution you would think that scientists and scholars have definitively proven that this universe created itself and life arose from non-life. The facts however, prove otherwise and in this article we look at what some of the various scholastic disciplines actually have to [...]

Don’t Speak Today’s Taboo “W-Words”

Jim Bublitz of Old Truth has an interesting article which deals with some words that begin with “w”…that we are told just shouldn’t be used. He informs us, “I’m speaking of some other ‘W-words’, one of which shows up in taboo sentences like this: ‘You are Wrong about that belief’. We’ll also take a look [...]

With the spread of contemplative spirituality even into the Word Faith camp we are sure to begin hearing more and more about “visions.” In this piece Dr. John Ankerberg and Dr. John Weldon point out, “The term vision has different applications, depending upon one’s worldview. From a biblical sense it may be used to describe an [...]

Christian Newswire reports that, “Last week, a star of ABC TV Grey’s Anatomy checked himself into an inpatient facility for psychological counseling, apparently to head off being dismissed because he reportedly uttered a ‘gay slur’ during an off-camera dispute and after the Golden Globe Awards program in response to a reporter’s question about the dispute.” [...]

While doing some research this morning I was led to the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts website. Having once been with the American Baptist Convention in the early 90’s, and seeing this event is not far from where I live now, I was particularly saddened to see just how far this denomination has fallen. No, it’s not surprising as Tony [...]

Powerful Prevailing Prayer

The “missional” buzzword can be heard almost as a mantra within evangelicalism today but Pastor Jon Cardwell reminds us that Oswald Chambers said, “The key to the missionary problem is not the key of common sense, nor the medical key, nor the key of civilisation or education or even evangelisation. The key is prayer.”
In this article you will see [...]

“Our modern world is decidedly confused,” says Dr. James White in this article about the critical issue of the pre-existence of Christ. Not only is the world confused but many who profess to be believers in Jesus are unsure as well. With confusion entering the evangelical camp we will do well to listen to Dr. White as he says, ”One cannot easily disassociate the [...]

The True and False Shepherd

Here is a classic sermon by Robert Murray M’Cheyne (1813-1843) where he uses John 10:1-6 as his text to teach on the characteristics of real men of God as opposed to hirelings and false teachers. M’Cheyne gives sound warning and then offers hope as he says:
In the countries of the east, brethren, you know that the shepherd [...]

Our Wayfaring Correspondent the Bohemian Baptist files this most unusual report:
At a community college graduation ceremony I attended in May, I was taken aback by a piece of advice that the commencement speaker gave to the graduates near the end of his speech. He declared with all sincerity, “When you lay in bed at [...]

Beer and the Bible

Tim Townsend of the St. Louis Today tells us in this article that, “about 50 people gathered on a recent Wednesday night to talk rock ‘n’ roll.” They discussed such pressing theological issues as, ”Why are Bob Marley and Kurt Cobain considered by some to be messiahs? When did rock music lose its edge,” and as Townsend rightly notes, “It was [...]

In this piece authors Richard Tomlinson and Fergal O’Brien write, “With his trademark wraparound sunglasses and cowboy hat, Bono is as famous for exhorting world leaders — from U.S. President George W. Bush to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern — to give money to Africa as he is for [...]

The Purpose Driven Life: Driving Our Youth Away

With all this confusion the Devil has been sowing within the evangelical camp today parents should dare not forget that their primary role is to teach our children to fear the Lord. This spiritual war is growing more intense because God is targeting His Church for being resistant to our Lord’s Spirit and attempting to do His work in [...]

Grunge Christianity?

Dr. John MacArthur writes here in this article concerning the extremely popular idea in the Church today that for one to effectively preach the Gospel they must make it first make it relevant to contemporary American society. This is often referred to as “engaging the culture” but ultimately ends up - as in the case of the emerging church – in becoming [...]
