As a follow-up to the CRN post Driscoll’s Sermon at the Gospel Coalition 2009 by Daniel Chew, over at the Resurgence Mark Driscoll writes:

This blog post is intended to serve as an outline for my message at the Gospel Coalition. Because of the seriousness of the text that was assigned to me some months ago, I have prepared what is, for me, a very thorough outline. Rarely do I use notes of any length but I felt it would be helpful to post these notes because there are likely too many points (40ish) for attendees to capture. Nonetheless, I want to also stress that the message likely will deviate from the notes at certain points…

You can see Mark Driscoll’s message here.

Many already know that From the Lighthouse Blog recently brought out in Mark Driscoll to Speak at Crystal Cathedral:

According to Mark Driscoll’s church calendar and other reports as well, Mark Driscoll will be speaking at Robert Schuller’s Crystal Cathedral on June 14th.

CRN linked to Mars Hill Church’s announcement itself here; but many don’t realize this isn’t the first time that Driscoll’s spoken for Robert Schuller, for example, he was at a 2004 conference along with Bill Hybels as you can see for yourself from the Crystal Cathedral gift page.

It’s also interesting to note that at CRN contributor Mike Corley’s blog The Expositor a commenter notes Driscoll writes of his dining with Schuller in Lunch with the Schullers at the Crystal Cathedral. And in the 2006 post Mark Driscoll and Robert Schuller at Reformissionary Steve McCoy, lead pastor of Doxa Fellowship, notes:

Mark Driscoll offers a post on his experience preaching at the Crystal Cathedral.  I’m thinking Driscoll’s blogging will not disappoint.

Now oddly enough when CRN attempted to access these two posts over at Mark Driscoll’s  The Resurgence concerning his reflections upon his time with Robert Schuller we see: “You are not authorized to access this page.”

But Tim Challies, who is by no means a “watchblogger,” tells us in his 2006 post A La Carte (01/20):

Weird: Mark Driscoll discusses his day spent with the Schuller family. “I walked away convicted that despite our differences I had been mentored in such things as hospitality, love, and encouragement. I would like to thank Dr. Schuller for his kindness to me and congratulate him on his half-century of ministry at the Crystal Cathedral on this, the final week of his tenure as senior pastor.”

Well, in any event, looking at Driscoll’s notes concerning so-called “Positives, Negatives, and Neutrals” it looks to us as if he’s learned Schuller’s unbiblical verbiage rather well.
