Jones’ friend, Adam Walker-Cleveland, has been denied ordination in the PCUSA for a second time. The first was when a presbytery in Idaho objected to Adam’s request to have his best friend, a homosexual, preach at his ordination service. The recent rejection to ordain Adam has come from his current presbytery in San Francisco, CA, due to academic qualifications.

Tony Jones is outraged at the presbytery’s denial of Adam and is calling out Emergents for support in his post Let’s Ordain Adam. Jones says: “Few things piss me off as much as the sinful bureaucratic systems of denominational Christianity. When rules and regulations trump common sense, then the shark has officially been jumped.”

Jones continued to express his rebellious, anti-authority, burned-out evangelicalism, emergent opinions by stating, “what gets to me even more is that bright, competent, and pastorally experienced persons like Adam continue to submit themselves to these sinful systems. They assure me that it’s not for the health insurance or the pension. They do it cuz they feel ‘called.’ And if I hear another person tell me that they’re sticking with their abusive denomination because, ‘They’re my tribe,’ I’m gonna go postal.”

But rather than walking into the Emergent Village Corporate Office with an uzi and murdering folks, Jones calls on other rebellious, anti-authority, burned-out evangelical, emergents to join him in his cause and circumvent the local presbytery by ordaining Adam themselves.

Jones plans to do this by having his followers “sign a petition” to quit the PCUSA and be ordained by them (whoever them are)! But although they will likely not bat an eye at Adam’s special request for a homosexual preacher at the ordination service, Adam may object to wasting an expensive Princeton MDiv and blowing it on an Emergent Expirement. Only time will tell…

This post is to illustrate the rebellious nature of burned-out evanjellyfish and how they kick, scream, and whine when they don’t get their way. Tony Jones’ behavior is a stunning example of how boys must be taught prior to the Jr. High age about authority, accountability, dignity, patience, and all the rest of the necessary virtues for godliness, or else they will find themselves in a church youth group not getting what they want and walk away from that “Christianity” and join the Emergents as adults.

That is why when they tell their conversion stories of being disenchanted with organized religion, because of inauthenticity, etc., only the other “old-boys” (not men) relate while the mature Christians do not. Friends, the Lord does not play little boys’ games. He makes demands to obey Him and commands a non-little-boy-like attitude. He commands, GIRD UP THE LOINS OF YOUR MIND! And if you do not like it, not even a petition signed by 135 million will bring in an alternative to what he commands if He has spoken and said tht there is no other way…
