Alice Cooper: A New Kind of Christian?
Published January 26th, 2007 by Dwayna in Abominations, Circus Church, Emerging Church, Youth MinistryI was doing some research tonight on Mormonism, which led me to a site about Alice Cooper becoming a “Christian“ (I must warn you about the pictures–they are so satanic I had to look away). I read this information avoiding the pictures thinking that, if this is true, Alice Cooper is probably attending an emergent church meeting somewhere this Sunday.
It might even be held in a Hard Rock Cafe. Why not, since many of their meetings are in bars and tattoo parlors? Alice Cooper has found a “home” in Christianity according to the article. No mention of leaving the rock-n-roll, just plans to bring Jesus into it all. But, what sort of “jesus” is this? And what spirit would ever sustain contentment in such darkness? (See 2 Cor. 11:4, 14 and Galatians 1:8-10).
As I read through statements such as “I can be a rock-n-roll star, a Christian, and Alice Cooper,” in his “testimony” it made me think of my experience at Cornerstone, 2006 and their “Days of the Dead“, all in the name of Christianity.
Poor “Alice” (which is not his real name) at least believes that Satan exists but does not realize that in order to have Jesus, he must REPENT and leave the darkness behind. It seems that he wants to take the name of Jesus into the darkness, and, of course, he is not alone in this as “church” worshipers are sweeping the nation these days dressed in black from head to toe as “gothic Christians” in the emergent church movement. Hope they don’t leave out these verses in their emergent sermons:“God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the Light, as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1: 5-7
“The fear of God is clean…” Psalm 19:9
“For you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness.” 1 Thess. 5:5
“…let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” Romans 13:12
