WRIC Channel 8 News reports, "The Reverend Jerry Falwell’s 40-year-old son is officially the new pastor of the Lynchburg church founded nearly 51 years ago. The Reverend Jonathan Falwell succeeds his father as the head of the 21,000-member Thomas Road Baptist Church. Several thousand church members elected the younger Falwell tonight on a unanimous vote."
