What do the fallen Hollywood stars have in common with the “Jesus People”?

“Days of the Dead.”

I spotted a piece on spirituality in Hollywood this morning while browsing a magazine rack at the Nashville airport awaiting my flight back to NYC. As I read about yet another spiritual fad from Hollywood I was reminded of the “Jesus People” at Cornerstone 2006:

“In Mexico the Day of the Dead is a celebration of a new beginning. And that’s something a lot of Hollywood stars can relate to, based on the popularity of designer Meredith Kahn’s jewelry line, which is inspired by the mystical holiday. Her spooky cool Made Her Think line features symbols like skulls and hearts that make a connection between love and life. [Buddhist] Angelina Jolie wears a double-band chain ring from Kahn’s Love or Perish collection…Eva Mendez wears the Skull Mala necklace…” [Source: “Stars Get Spiritual” In Touch, p. 82]

Maybe the jewelry designer will have a booth at next year’s Cornerstone event. Judging from my observation at the Cornerstone festival in 2006, the death themed skull jewelry would be a big hit with the “Jesus People.”
