Enough About Abanes
Published July 28th, 2008 by Sam Walker in GeneralBrothers and sisters. While I wholeheartedly agree that the issue regarding Bro. Ken Silva and Mr. Abanes is serious and needs some attention, I submit that there are other issues at hand today. This should be laid to rest soon with more grace and forgiveness than was offered by Mr. Abanes himself; not for his sake, not for our sake, but for Christ’s sake. If Abanes’ actions open the door for blogs and websites to be shut down willy-nilly and our rights confiscated. So be it. The gospel is not dependent on the internet. It isn’t even dependent on us, but rather God Himself and He uses us of His own will. I will say no more regarding this issue my brothers and sisters.
In other news:
Be in prayer for the Lord’s will to be done regarding the shooting at Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. I can’t begin to name the things wrong with this church and I do not believe them to be of like faith and mind. So, we must pray for God’s mercy and justice to be clear. We must pray that perhaps through this shooting, God will speak to the survivors and so on and save them. He might even use us to call to them toward real faith that can be stood upon. Pray for them, you, my brothers! Pray for them, you, my sisters! For the glory of God! Pray He saves them and shows His great power to them and the world!
We have a commission to uphold and it does not solely revolve around the antics of one Richard Abanes, or one Ken Silva or one S.J. Walker.
That is all. With more love and respect than even I could conjure,
Amen.
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away. For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.” James 1:2-11
